Study on the Tata Investment Plan in Bangladesh
Abstract: As an industrial giant Tata was looking for a complete solution from Bangladesh and as very professional in their field they were trying to take as much facilities as they could. Bangladesh has never got such an amount of investment before but apart from this there is very little cause for which Bangladesh could take advantage. Bangladesh has a vast of population which could be utilized in a proper way and they can be an asset to the country and the organization as well, but as Tata is a foreign entrepreneur it would look for the more competitive expertise and in doing so they would employ more and more foreign personnel as Bangladesh has limited or no expertise on the industry Tata was deploying in Bangladesh thus it would had a trivial impact on economic growth for Bangladesh in labor force perspective. Bangladesh is in verge of gas and coal scarcity of its own so giving away the natural resources for 20 years would cost it a lot. The industry was supposed to manufacture Steel, Fertilizer which would be exported to outside of country and in these industries it is not possible to work in backward and forward linkage, so there would be a tiny possibility of employing of many people linked to the manufactured steel or fertilizer. Tata’s investment instead of providing a big boost to the entire economy, it will remain as an enclave without much of a link with the rest of the economy, an enclave whose main purpose will be to siphon away the country’s mineral energy resources.
